An Update: Enforcement Remedies and Alternative Sanctions
May 21, 2024CMS recently revised the procedures and guidance on imposing enforcement remedies for hospice and alternative sanctions for home health agencies. The remedies/sanctions are alternatives to termination from the Medicare program for a home health agency or hospice program and include:
- Civil money penalties
- Suspension of payment for all new Medicare admissions
- Directed plan of correction
- Temporary management
- Directed in-service training
These are new to hospices while having been available for home health agencies for some time. However, the revisions to the State Operations Manual do provide some clarification for home health agencies.
Join experts Katie Wehri and Mary Carr as they delve into the details of the revisions and explain when and how the sanctions/remedies are to be used and how the Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) process can be of help to providers.
