PEPPER/CBR Request for Information Roundtable
July 30, 2024In early 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a temporary pause through the fall of 2024 in the distribution of the PEPPER (Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report) and CBRs (Comparative Billing Reports). This announcement came after the PEPPER website unexpectedly went down in the final months of 2023.
The PEPPER is an electronic report that delivers facility-specific Medicare statistics for discharges and services vulnerable to improper payments and is made available to home health and hospice providers annually – in the spring for hospice and in the summer for home health agencies. CMS indicated the pause in distribution of the reports was related to their work to enhance the quality and accessibility of the PEPPERs and CBRs.
Recently, CMS posted a Request for Information (RFI) (https://www.cms.gov/files/document/cbr-pepper-rfi-final-july-2024.pdf) for the re-evaluation of the CBRs and PEPPERs. The NAHC-NHPCO Alliance is hosting a roundtable to obtain feedback from members to inform the development of a response to the RFI.
Note this roundtable is for members only.
