PDHCA is Now Private Duty Home Care at NAHC

Washington, D.C. — The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is pleased to announce that the Private Duty Homecare Association (PDHCA) is now Private Duty Home Care at NAHC.

The nation’s private duty home care nursing and personal care services community fulfills a unique and essential purpose in modern life. Private duty home care provides critical, quality, home-based care, and living support services for individuals young and old, helping them live full, independent, and connected lives in the comfort of wherever they call home.

The PHDCA was originally founded in 2005 as an affiliate organization by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) to provide resources and support to private duty home care owners, operators, and leaders. Over the last year, we have done a comprehensive review of our current member offerings and identified a number of opportunity areas for improvement based on your feedback and insight- all in an effort to better support the private duty home care community as the demand for private duty home care services continues to grow.

Recognizing the increasingly, interconnected nature of private duty home care with other segments of home health care, hospice, and the larger healthcare continuum; the Private Duty Homecare Association (PDHCA), with support and guidance from our Advisory Board, has made the decision, effective immediately, to transition PDHCA to become Private Duty Home Care at NAHC- a fully incorporated service line of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice.

The decision to transition was made to better support and successfully fulfill our commitment to you, our members.  In review of our operational infrastructure and with feedback from our recent member surveys, we acknowledged the need to partner and align more closely with NAHC in order to leverage their strength in advocacy, expertise, influence, and resources, to exponentially increase our delivery of services and value that would ultimately meet the evolving needs and consistently deliver the highest quality of private duty nursing and personal care services through leadership, advocacy, education, and innovation.

Over the last several months, we have worked with the assistance of NAHC, to increase content, education, and our advocacy efforts to ensure private duty home care members receive more benefits than ever before.

Each week, members who are opted-in, are now receiving the newly enhanced Private Duty Source, an eNewsletter with the latest news and information relevant to private duty home care stakeholders. We have forged a partnership with Littler to offer a series of free-to-members webinars developed with you in mind and a weekly Ask the Experts offering to address labor law and employment-related issues. And, we have reinvigorated our private duty educational webinar series, now offering monthly virtual educational events and resources cultivated to meet your needs.

Moving forward, our overall goal will be to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and unity among our members, business partners, and affiliate associations in private duty home care providing an avenue for engagement, advocacy, and innovation-working together to elevate care in the home.

In the short term, it’s important to note there is absolutely nothing that needs to be done; current PDHCA members will convert automatically to Private Duty Home Care at NAHC and will receive all of the benefits they have grown accustomed to, as well as access to the benefits members of NAHC receive, at no additional cost.

Over the next several weeks we look forward to sharing our plans for the future, including new, monthly Innovation Chats, Industry Advocacy Updates, a national certification program, and even new partnerships with organizations and businesses.
